Our Saint Mary Music Ministry provides beauty, joy, comfort and inspiration for our liturgies and parish celebrations through the musical gifts, generosity and commitment of our members.
Saint Mary Adult Choirrehearses on Thursday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and sings at the 10:30 Mass on Sundays, starting with a warmup at 9:45 a.m. We sing occasionally at the Saturday 5 p.m. Mass, and host our annual parish Service of Lessons and Carols in December. The ability to read music is a plus, but not necessary. Giving back to the community is important to us, whether it be gifts of handmade hats, scarves or warm blankets, or donations to the Portland Food Bank. For singers who are available in the morning, our Saint Mary Resurrection Choir provides musical support at funeral Masses. No rehearsals required - this is a lovely way to minister to those who have lost a loved one.
Our Saint Mary Youth Choir (grade three and up) makes a joyful sound at the 10:30 a.m. Family Mass every month. Rehearsals are on the Thursday before Family Mass from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Youth Choir also participates in our parish Service of Lessons and Carols, and sings on Christmas Eve for the 4 p.m. Vigil Mass.
Singing not your thing? Instrumentalists are always welcome to join our ministry. For more information, please visit the choir area after Mass, or leave a message for music director, Jeanne Samolik, at the parish office.
