The role of the Deanery is to gather neighboring communities together to share skills and resources resulting in a vibrant parish life available for its members.

There are six communities in the Middletown Deanery which include Portland, Middletown, Cromwell, Middlefield, Durham, and Haddam. Within those communities there are 11 Catholic churches, one each in Portland, Cromwell, Middlefield and Durham, two in Haddam, and five in Middletown.
