Our Saint Mary Parish offers a choice of three programs to engaged couples prior to receiving the Sacrament of Marriage.
Saint Mary Church participates in the Together in Love Program which affords the engaged couple the opportunity to meet with one married couple, in their home, for four one-two hour sessions. Study materials are provided and includes books on God's Plan for a Joy-Filled Marriage, Decision to Love Workbook and Diocesan requirement of an Introduction to Natural Family Planning. This program offers a chance to openly share life experiences and discuss materials on a couple-to-couple basis. Saint Mary Church has five couples in the parish that host this program. Luke Guilmette and Kristine Hopp are the Coordinators. Contact the Parish Office at (860) 342-2328 to make arrangements.
God's Plan for a Joy-Filled Marriage is hosted by the Office of Family Life / Catholic Charities. This marriage preparation option meets on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings for three sessions throughout the diocese. The three session class is offered five to six times throughout the year. This program offers, in a group setting, engaged couples a complete understanding of God's plan for marriage and human sexuality, introducing couples to the beauty of the Church's vision of marriage as proclaimed by Pope John Paul II in his Theology of the Body. "Decision in Love" Marriage Preparation Workbook is integrated into the program. Session #3 includes the Diocesan and USCCB requirement of a Natural Family Planning Introduction presentation by Certified Natural Family Planning Instructors. To register for a three session class or for more information call the Diocesan Office of Family Life at (860) 889-8346, ext. 283.
An Online Marriage Preparation program is available at www.catholicmarriageprep.com. Contact the Diocesan Office of Family Life at (860) 889-8346, ext. 283 with your information if you choose the online marriage preparation option and to also complete the Introduction to Natural Family Planning, a Diocesan and USCCB (United Stated Council of Catholic Bishops) requirement.
