What is Stewardship?

A Christian Steward shares God’s gifts in justice and love with others and returns them with increase to the Lord.

Stewardship is an extension of our spiritual life in which we return our gifts in gratitude to a loving God for all that He has provided. Stewardship is based on the biblical teachings of the Old Testament and the New Testament teachings of Jesus. Today’s steward is called to embrace scripture, which provides insight, revelation and direction in our lives.
In many ways Stewardship is a radical departure from today’s consumer culture which celebrates wealth and material achievement. As disciples of Jesus we are called to share and to serve in Christ’s name and to be active members of a worshiping community known as parish.

Stewardship is the spiritually motivated way for us to share our financial resources and is based on the following principles:

1. Our stewardship gift should be intentional, planned and prayerfully considered.
2. Our stewardship gift should be sacrificial.
3. Our stewardship gift should include our parish and worthwhile charities of our choice.

1. Humbly accepting the fact that all we have and all that we are comes from God.
2. Sharing with God and others the first portion of what God gave us.
3. We give to God and others as Jesus did in gratitude for all God gave us, trusting that God will meet our personal needs.
